Funding Details and Eligibility Criteria

Honda’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) vision is to help people fulfill their life’s potential. We do this by supporting the communities where we live and work through financial contributions and the volunteer efforts of Honda associates.

Honda and the Honda USA Foundation offer funding opportunities for programmatic support. Additionally, Honda corporate offers funding opportunities for community event sponsorships.

Details and eligibility criteria for programmatic support and community event sponsorships are below. Eligible organizations may access the respective Honda Corporate and Honda USA Foundation funding information and application via the links at the bottom of this page.

Programmatic Support

Community Event Sponsorships

Description

Honda and the Honda USA Foundation provide funding to nonprofit organizations and schools to support programs that align with our pillar award categories.

Year-over-year certain pillar award categories may not always be open for funding and are subject to change. Full details of the pillar award categories will be made available each fall when the program application opens.

As a company deeply embedded in the fabric of our communities, Honda is proud to support the places we call home. We aim to sponsor community events that celebrate and uphold the rich cultures, heritages, and traditions of the communities where we live and work. By valuing each person’s unique contributions and perspectives, Honda is committed to the collective strength of our communities. In doing so, we strive to be a company that society wants to exist.

Community event sponsorship requests can include, but not limited to parades, community festivals, galas, runs, walks.

Request Timing
  • Application open: annually from September 1 to October 31
  • Decision notification: following Spring
  • Application open: Year-Round
  • Decision notification: rolling basis

*Requests received within 8 weeks of event date are not guaranteed a response

Request Range
  • 25,000 to $100,000 range
  • Open
Organizations Eligible
  • Organizations must be located in the United States and have tax-exempt status under the Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3) or utilize a tax-exempt, non-profit fiscal sponsor
  • Public school districts, private/public elementary and secondary schools as listed by the U.S. Department of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).
  • Organizations must be located in the United States and have tax-exempt status under the Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3)/(4)/(6) or utilize a tax-exempt, non-profit fiscal sponsor
  • Public school districts, private/public elementary and secondary schools as listed by the U.S. Department of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).
Organizations not eligible
  • Organizations that are ineligible for contributions under any state or federal law
  • Organizations with a pending 501(c)(3) tax-exempt public charity status
  • Political parties, candidates, or campaigns
  • Private clubs, fraternities or sororities
  • Organizations that represent a conflict of interest with Honda
  • Institutions located outside the U.S. or those whose funds are used outside the U.S.
  • Organizations that discriminate on the basis of race, color, ethnicity, national origin, ancestry, age, religion, sex, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, veteran or military status, marital status, family status, genetic information, or any other status protected by law
  • Organizations that are ineligible for contributions under any state or federal law
  • Organizations with a pending 501(c) tax-exempt public charity status
  • Political parties, candidates, or campaigns
  • Private clubs, fraternities or sororities
  • Organizations that represent a conflict of interest with Honda
  • Institutions located outside the U.S. or those whose funds are used outside the U.S.
  • Organizations that discriminate on the basis of race, color, ethnicity, national origin, ancestry, age, religion, sex, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, veteran or military status, marital status, family status, genetic information, or any other status protected by law
Requests not eligible
  • For auction items
  • For athletic teams
  • From individuals
  • To support political parties, candidates, or campaigns
  • Received outside of the online system
  • Programs organized/implemented for religious purposes
  • That do not align with Honda and the Honda USA Foundation’s pillar award categories
  • For funds to be used on completed programs
  • From Honda dealers, vendors or suppliers, their family foundations, or charitable arms
  • For athletic teams
  • From individuals
  • To support political parties, candidates, or campaigns
  • Received outside of the online system
  • Events organized/implemented for religious purposes
  • For funds to be used on past events
  • From Honda dealers, vendors or suppliers, their family foundations, or charitable arms

Additional Eligibility Information

Honda and the Honda USA Foundation are committed to transparency and will ensure that all applicants receive an equal opportunity for funding and favoritism is not awarded to those applicants with ties to Honda.

An organization may submit more than one application. However, an organization cannot submit multiple applications for the same program or community event sponsorship.

Honda is dedicated to inspiring and empowering our associates to take meaningful action through volunteerism. As we strive to deepen our impact in the communities where we live and work, Honda-organized associate engagement opportunities are available exclusively with our funded partners.

Geographic Scope

Requests for programmatic support and community event sponsorships can be local, regional or national in scope, but must primarily benefit communities where Honda associates live and work. Eligible requests must serve one or more of the following states, where Honda has major operations in the U.S. and a strong community presence:

  • Alabama
  • California
  • Colorado
  • Connecticut
  • District of Columbia
  • Florida
  • Georgia
  • Indiana
  • Iowa
  • Michigan
  • New Jersey
  • New York
  • North Carolina
  • Ohio
  • Oregon
  • South Carolina
  • Texas
