Honda USA Foundation Funding

Honda USA Foundation

The Honda USA Foundation gives back to the communities where our associates live and work through programmatic grant opportunities.

The Honda USA Foundation Program application is currently closed. Each request received during the open application period will be evaluated based on its own merit, taking into consideration community needs and available funding.

Details and eligibility criteria for programmatic support are below. Eligible organizations may return to this page to apply during the open application window, which takes place annually from September 1 to October 31.

Programmatic Support

Description Honda and the Honda USA Foundation provide funding to nonprofit organizations and schools to support programs that align with our pillar award categories.

Year-over-year certain pillar award categories may not always be open for funding and are subject to change. Full details of the pillar award categories will be made available each fall when the program application opens.

Request Timing
  • Application open: annually from September 1 to October 31
  • Decision notification: following Spring
Request Range
  • $25,000 to $100,000 range
Organization Eligibility
  • Organizations must be located in the United States and have tax-exempt status under the Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3) or utilize a tax-exempt, non-profit fiscal sponsor
  • Public school districts, private/public elementary and secondary schools as listed by the U.S. Department of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).
Organizations not eligible
  • Organizations that are ineligible for contributions under any state or federal law
  • Organizations with a pending 501(c)(3) tax-exempt public charity status
  • Political parties, candidates, or campaigns
  • Private clubs, fraternities or sororities
  • Organizations that represent a conflict of interest with Honda
  • Institutions located outside the U.S. or those whose funds are used outside the U.S.
  • Organizations that discriminate on the basis of race, color, ethnicity, national origin, ancestry, age, religion, sex, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, veteran or military status, marital status, family status, genetic information, or any other status protected by law
Requests not eligible
  • For auction items
  • For athletic teams
  • From individuals
  • To support political parties, candidates, or campaigns
  • Received outside of the online system
  • Programs organized/implemented for religious purposes
  • That do not align with Honda and the Honda USA Foundation’s pillar award categories
  • For funds to be used on completed programs
  • From Honda dealers, vendors or suppliers, their family foundations, or charitable arms

Additional Eligibility Information

Honda and the Honda USA Foundation are committed to transparency and will ensure that all applicants receive an equal opportunity for funding and favoritism is not awarded to those applicants with ties to Honda.

An organization may submit more than one application. However, an organization cannot submit multiple applications for the same program or community event sponsorship.

Geographic Scope

Requests for programmatic support can be local, regional or national in scope, but must primarily benefit communities where Honda associates live and work. Eligible requests must serve one or more of the following states, where Honda has major operations in the U.S. and a strong community presence:

  • Alabama
  • California
  • Colorado
  • Connecticut
  • District of Columbia
  • Florida
  • Georgia
  • Indiana
  • Iowa
  • Michigan
  • New Jersey
  • New York
  • North Carolina
  • Ohio
  • Oregon
  • South Carolina
  • Texas

Please note, funding opportunities are open to communities near Honda corporate operations. Honda and Acura dealerships are independently owned and operated.
