Honda Young Professionals Provide Drive-Through Food Bank Support

Honda has supported Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio since 2006 through giving, providing donations and volunteering. This year, Honda Young Professionals, a business resource group at Honda Engineering North America (EGA), decided to pitch in and help support several of the organization’s food drives taking place this fall.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Second Harvest is conducting mobile food distributions. These events are set up like a drive-thru, where everyone remains in their vehicle and products are loaded by volunteers into the trunk of the vehicle. With all of the changes required to keep everyone safe, the process was still able to run smoothly and meet the community needs.

Five Honda associates participated in October, and associates also will be volunteering in November and December.

“We feel a responsibility to our communities,” said Ashley Rhoades, an EGA associate and member of Honda Young Professionals. “While we see the impact that we make with our products, it is also important to see the impact in other ways.”

The mission of Second Harvest Food Bank is to grow hope in north central Ohio by creating pathways to nutritious food.
