Honda Supplies Meals to Southern California Families

Families from across Southern California lined up in their cars at Honda Center this past weekend to receive a week’s supply of groceries, including eggs, apples and potatoes, from the Second Harvest Pop-Up Drive Thru Food Distribution.

American Honda teamed up with the Anaheim Ducks and the City of Anaheim to support the event, with American Honda donating 75,000 meals and the Anaheim Ducks and Honda Center staff providing a carnation flower to each vehicle as a special Mother’s Day gift.

Saturday marked Second Harvest’s eighth Pop-up Drive Thru Food Distribution event at Honda Center. Since the first event in March, the nonprofit organization has served approximately 37,000 households and provided 730,000 pounds of shelf-stable groceries during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“So many people are struggling to provide meals for themselves and their families in these challenging times,” said Steve Morikawa, vice president for Community Relations & Social Responsibility at American Honda. “We hope our donation brought some peace of mind to those in need in our community.”
