Honda Honored for Support of Minority Suppliers

Honda was recently given the Corporation of the Year award by the Ohio Minority Supplier Development Council (OMSDC) for its strong engagement of Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs) in Ohio.

Honda annually spends close to $1 billion with Ohio-based companies.

“It is fitting in our 40th anniversary year of production in Ohio that we should be recognized for our work with diverse suppliers,” said Michael Bracey, Honda of America Mfg. procurement diversity team manager.  “We are continuously working to improve our support of diverse businesses within Ohio in various ways, because diversity is in Honda’s DNA.”

Two Honda suppliers – Modular Assembly Innovations, a tire and wheel and sub-assembly supplier and UNICON International, an IT support service supplier – were also recognized.

Honda was chosen by a panel comprised of MBEs based on a number of criteria, including diverse spend and supplier activities and engagement.

The awards were presented at the OMSDC’s 2019 Annual Awards Gala, held Nov. 15 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The OMSDC is one of 23 affiliates of the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC), a nonprofit corporate membership organization that advances business opportunities for its certified Asian, Black, Hispanic and Native American business enterprises and connects them to its corporate members.
