Honda Associates Honor Veterans with Wall of Heroes Display and More

All across the U.S. and Canada, Honda associates honored military veterans in a variety of creative and inspiring ways.

Veterans Day, celebrated Nov. 11, honors all who have served the country in war or peace — both living and fallen—although it’s largely intended to thank living veterans for their sacrifices. It was originally called Armistice Day, commemorating the end of World War I. In Canada, veterans are celebrated with Remembrance Day, also on Nov. 11.

Honda has three Veterans Business Resource Groups (BRGs), comprised of more than 300 associates who have served. That number doesn’t include a fourth Veterans BRG at Honda R&D Americas, Inc. that recently launched.

Below is a round-up of company activities that honored those who have served.

Honda Manufacturing of Indiana’s Veterans & Military BRG coordinated a Wall of Heroes photo display in honor of Veterans Day. The wall features photos of associates and/or family members who are a veteran or currently serving in the military. Associates are also planning on participating in a wreath laying ceremony at Greensburg Cemetery on Saturday, Dec. 14 (weather permitting).

Honda of America Mfg. (HAM) has planned a “Battle of the Branches” blood drive is planned at two locations in central Ohio on Nov. 15 and Nov. 21. Associates are invited to donate blood and fill out a card to “vote” for a military branch of their choosing.

In addition, the Veteran’s BRG participated in the 2019 National Veterans Memorial and Museum 5 Mile Run & Walk in Columbus.
In addition, Ohio associates are attending a Veterans Summit on Nov. 15 hosted by the Ohio Diversity Council. This summit is designed to educate business leaders, HR professionals and hiring managers around hiring and providing reasonable accommodations to veterans.

Associates at Honda R&D Americas, Inc. in Ohio participated in the Challenge America: Makers for Veterans event over the weekend, in which teams of associates came up with ideas to help make the lives of injured veterans easier.

Associates at Honda Manufacturing of Alabama in Lincoln, AL participated in a Veterans Day parade on Nov 11. Several associates drove vehicles in the parade, and HMA’s military BRG supported the event.
