Honda Associates Pack Meals for the Hungry

It is the season of giving and some Honda associates gave their time to help some hungry neighbors this month.

About 40 volunteers from Honda of America Mfg. volunteered at Second Harvest, where they packed about 854 senior commodity boxes. With each box containing seven meals, that equates to about 6,000 for those in need.

Volunteers also helped to sort frozen meat and packed 200 boxes.

Second Harvest works in partnership with partner charities from the very small to the very large to help those at-risk for hunger. Some operate soup kitchens or food pantries. Others include shelters, and nonprofit organizations that serve meals or distribute food packages as a supplemental programs.

There are 70,000 people in the mid-Ohio region who are food insecure.
