Associates in Alabama Fill Shoeboxes with Holiday Cheer

Honda Manufacturing of Alabama (HMA) hosted an “Operation Christmas Child” shoebox event on Nov. 3 where more than 70 associates and family members filled shoebox “gift boxes” for children across the world.

Operation Christmas Child (OCC) is a way to touch the lives of children all around the world and bring hope in the form of a simple gift. Shoeboxes are filled with toys and gifts and distributed to children in need. Since 1993, OCC has delivered gift-filled shoeboxes to over 146 million children in more than 100 countries.

HMA associates and volunteers filled 350 boxes with sewing kits, crayons, coloring books, toothbrushes, jump ropes and more playful and helpful goodies. Associates then loaded up the boxes and delivered them to Hepzibah Baptist Church in Talladega, who will ship the boxes to an OCC processing center in Atlanta for international distribution.
