Honda Supports Festival Latino in Columbus
Honda was the presenting sponsor of Festival Latino, which provides the Columbus-area community with the opportunity to experience Latin American culture through performing arts, educational workshops and authentic cuisine.
The free, two-day festival was held Aug. 11 and 12. Honda associates staffed a table at the event, where they gave away fans and other items, and displayed several vehicles.
Javier Arroyo, an engineering associate in the New Model Tech Group at the Marysville Auto Plant, volunteered for the first time. He joined Honda just three weeks prior to the festival.
“It means a lot to me that the company gives out to the community and provides opportunities for associates to give back. Knowing that the company is there for us is a good thing. This event also provided me with a way to get to know more associates I wouldn’t encounter otherwise,” he said.
This was the 22nd year for Festival Latino, which has been managed by the Columbus Association for the Performing Arts since 2009. The city started it in 1996 as a five-hour pilot project and, after it proved a success, expanded it to two days the next summer.
