Associates Answer the Call Following Tornado in Alabama

Severe storms rolled through Central Alabama on March 19, impacting the area directly north of Honda Manufacturing of Alabama (HMA) where many Honda associates live.

On March 22, HMA received a call from the emergency response team in Jacksonville and associates did not hesitate to answer the call. A total of 18 HMA associates traveled to Jacksonville, reporting for duty at 6 a.m. Honda associates assisted in processing 1,200 volunteers throughout the day.

Additionally, HMA donated the following items:

  • $10,000 to the Community Foundation of Northeast Alabama
  • 250 sets of safety glasses;
  • 500 T-Shirts;
  • 200 pairs of work gloves;
  • 16 folding canvas chairs

Some associates also went out to the debris sites and worked there, clearing limbs and trees and some returned to volunteer on their own time on Saturday and Sunday.
