“Oh the Places We Go,” for Read Across America
Honda Manufacturing of Alabama (HMA) sent 30 associates to read their favorite Dr. Seuss books to students at three Alabama elementary schools on the annual Read Across America Day event, held annually in honor of Dr. Seuss’s Birthday.
Due to an overwhelming response from HMA associates asking to participate in the reading event, a third school – Tenth Street Elementary – was added this year. “We are so fortunate to have the opportunity to read at Tenth Street Elementary and to donate books to the school’s library,” said HMA associate Verna Seals, a volunteer reader for the last 3 years.
HMA has participated in the annual Read Across America Day event for the last 13 years. HMA associates read to every classroom, reading to over 1,000 elementary school children between the three elementary schools. Before leaving each school, associates donated their book and announced the charitable contribution HMA will make to the school’s library.
