Honda Companies Contribute $2M to United Way

Honda has been a proud supporter of United Way for many years and this year is no different. Many of our companies support United Way through local events, campaigns, incentive programs and fundraisers.

“It is so heartwarming to see associates who feel a personal connection make a difference by helping United Way organizations throughout our area. These agencies certainly appreciate their generosity,” said Karen Sewell, coordinator of Honda Manufacturing of Alabama’s (HMA) United Way program. “Thank you to those associates who continually give, and to those who contributed for the first time.”

In total, Honda companies raised $2 million for United Way during its 2017 campaign. Here are the results, by company:

  • Associates at Honda of America Manufacturing, Inc. (HAM) raised $1.21 million. Fifty-percent of associates at HAM participated in the campaign.
  • HMA raised $504,045.
  • Associates at Honda North America, Inc. (HNA) Ohio contributed more than $165,000. More than 64 percent of associates participated in supporting the needs of Honda’s communities and neighbors in Ohio.
  • At Honda Manufacturing of Indiana, 755 associates pledged nearly $90,000.
  • Honda South Carolina’s contributions totaled $46,924, including a $20,000 donation from the company.

United Way Worldwide works with almost 1,200 local United Way offices throughout the country in a coalition of charitable organizations that pool efforts in fundraising and support. United Way’s focus is to identify and resolve pressing community issues and to make measurable changes in communities through its partnerships.
