Tree Decorating Contest Brings Holiday Cheer to Many

Honda associates got into the holiday spirit this year with a new holiday tree decorating contest that brought some cheer to associates as they entered the plant to begin their workdays.

Honda of America Mfg. Inc.’s East Liberty Auto Plant held the decorating contest for the first time this year. Associates formed 30 teams and each entered a tree, creating a fun atmosphere in the plant’s skywalk at the associate entrance. Every tree had its own theme.

Over 700 votes were cast to pick a winner, but in the end, the Paint department team’s “Hero Tree” took home the win. The tree started out as a military themed tree to honor veterans but quickly added other heroes to the mix such as teachers, fire fighters, police and medical professionals.

The trees will also bring some cheer to those in need this season, as each was donated, along with any presents underneath it to a family in need. Along with the toys, the winning team also has letters to active soldiers as well as care packages with tasty snacks.
