Honda Young Professionals Group Helps Build a Home
The Honda Young Professionals (HYP) Business Resource Group at Honda R&D Americas, Inc. recently spent four days with Habitat for Humanity in Ohio, helping a family realize its dream of a new home.
Honda volunteers helped build a single family home in Columbus – the first home for the family who is moving in – over a period of four days.
“This type of volunteer work is very rewarding from a volunteer perspective, because in a single day you can see the progress made toward building a house,” said Timothy Rupp, an exterior design engineer with Honda R&D and president of the HYP group.
This project had 39 HYP members participating in work that was very physically challenging. “Two different days, we were setting roof trusses which are very heavy, and take an entire team of people to do.,” said Rupp.
The group plans to help with another home in the spring.
