Enhancements made to Honda attraction at Disneyland Park

Disneyland Resort, in Anaheim, CA, debuted a fresh look and storyline for its iconic attraction Autopia, powered by Honda, featuring Honda’s humanoid robot, ASIMO, and an all-new Disney character, the robotic “Bird.” Honda became the sponsor of Autopia in 2016, an attraction that allows guests to get behind the wheel of a car and cruise on a winding road trip.

The new storyline features Honda’s ASIMO (Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility) and its new friend, Bird, as they embark on the ultimate road trip. Scenes in the storyline feature ASIMO and Bird as they plan their trip, load up their Honda vehicle and experience adventures that take them from a campground to the skies.

Bird is the first character Disney has created for Autopia, located in the Tomorrowland area of Disneyland park. In addition to ASIMO, the attraction features many different Honda products, both real and conceptual, that share the company’s forward-looking innovative spirit with guests.  The addition of the scenes are the second phase of improvements made in the past year, which included fuel-efficient Honda engines.

“As the only Tomorrowland attraction that has continued since opening day, Autopia remains one of the most iconic and universally appealing attractions at Disneyland park,” said Steve Morikawa, vice president of Corporate Relations & Social Responsibility. “Honda is proud of the enhancements that have been made over the past year, and we look forward to the future when we can explore the possible introduction of new elements or technologies to the attraction.”

Autopia received a makeover in spring 2016 when Honda became the sponsor. The cars – already powered by fuel-efficient Honda engines – were repainted in Honda colors, as well as received Honda badges and new tires.
