Honda Honors Founder of Boys2Men with Power of Dreams Award

For the third year, Honda honored an exceptional individual who has positively affected the lives of others in the community.

Dr. N. Jean Hudley received the 2017 HBCU Power of Dreams Award during this year’s Honda Battle of the Bands (HBOB) event on Jan. 28. Hudley is the founder of Boys2Men Home & Sanctuary for Youth, Inc. (B2M), a nonprofit organization located in Atlanta, created to help underserved young men ages 13-25.

Hudley’s passion evolved out of her experiences in Fulton County Juvenile Court as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for Child Abuse Victims (CASA). For eight years, Dr. Hudley worked for the rights of abused and neglected children in shelters, group homes and foster care environments.

She founded B2M in 2004, which provides a range of services from mentoring and conflict management to life skills for young men. Hudley currently serves on a number of committees including the Department of Juvenile Justice Task Force Member, as Advisor on Georgia Governor Nathan Deal’s Prisoner Re-entry Justice Reform Committee, and the Atlanta Community Impact Program with the Department of Corrections. Hudley received a surprise grant during the HBOB performance to support her future endeavors.

“Dr. Hudley’s work is a shining example of how fostering the dreams of our youth strengthens communities and makes our world a better place,” said Alexandra Warnier, manager, Corporate Social Responsibility for Honda. The HBCU Power of Dreams Award is given to individuals within the HBCU community who have enhanced their institutions and communities. Previous winners of award include Barbara Andrews in 2016 and Audrey Stradford in 2015.

“Honda’s long-standing partnership with the HBCU community is a testament to the power of dreams, and we’re proud to support the students that make this program such a success each and every year,” Warnier added.
