Honda Women’s Group Supports Local Shelter

January 10, 2017 – Honda Manufacturing of Alabama’s Women in Manufacturing (WIM) Business Resource Group recently partnered with the YWCA to deliver a little cheer to Our Place residents.

Gifts, necessities, and toys were purchased and delivered to the local women’s shelter in central Alabama housing 14 women and their children.

During the visit, WIM members shared encouraging messages with the women. Shirley Hayes, WIM vice chair said, “It’s not where you’ve been, it’s where you are going … I’ll see you at the top!”

Honda associates said it was priceless seeing the smiles and joy on the children’s faces as they opened their gifts. The women in the shelter were very appreciative of the visit, Hayes said.

WIM Chair, Tania Terry, thanked all the volunteers who participated, in one way or another, to make the YWCA community service event a success.

“It definitely was heartwarming to be able to share with the ladies and their children and provide them with hope that things will get better,” she said. “It’s a great feeling knowing that I work for a company that cares about the community and gives back.”
