Latino Students Honored With Scholarship, Internship Opportunities
Sixteen outstanding Latino undergraduate students from around the country were honored recently for academic excellence by Honda North America, Inc. and the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) at the annual Scholar Awards Breakfast in Columbus, Ohio.
Each student is eligible to receive a scholarship up to $5,000 to help pay for tuition, books and living expenses, pending verification of fall enrollment. This year, Honda has added the opportunity for all recipients to interview on-site for Honda’s summer immersion internship program. If accepted, the students will receive an in-depth experience in an automobile manufacturing environment.
Students are selected for the scholarship based on their academic excellence. They must have at least a 3.0 grade-point average.
As part of their trip to Honda North America in Ohio, the students enjoyed networking and a visit to the Columbus Idea Foundry upon their arrival.
Following the breakfast, students traveled to Marysville, Ohio, for an inside look at Honda’s manufacturing and research and development operations in the state. They will also tour the Honda Heritage Center Museum, which features an array of historic, current and prototype products.
“It is more important, than ever, for us to provide students and families with the resources they need to successfully complete a higher education,” said Fidel A. Vargas, President & CEO, Hispanic Scholarship Fund. “We are pleased to continue our partnership with Honda North America. This contribution demonstrates our partner’s continued commitment to the Hispanic community and higher education.”
