HSC Grants Wish For SC Children’s Theatre

Children from the Lake City Community Theatre put on a production of Disney’s Aladdin Kids in early June with funding help from the Florence Regional Arts Alliance’s (FRAA) Quarterly Grants Program. The program is funded in part by a gift from Honda of South Carolina (HSC).
The current president of the Florence Regional Arts Alliance is Michele Pridgen, Administration Manager of Honda of South Carolina.
Since 1987, this program has awarded over $300,000 in grants to arts organizations, artists and teachers. Other contributors include the South Carolina Arts Commission and the John and Susan Bennet Memorial Arts Fund of the Coastal Community Foundation of S.C.
The 35 youth from four counties and 13 school districts were directed by Glen Gourley and musical director Cliff Gardner as they performed songs from the 1993 Disney film ‘Aladdin’.
This year was the fifth youth production of the theater group. The Lake City Community Theatre, formed in 1989, performs at the Blanding Street Auditorium in Lake City, S.C.
