Honda Supports Women in Green Forum
The top female leaders in environmental fields gathered this month for the annual Women in Green Forum, the premier conference highlighting women’s impact on the environmental industry.
Now in its ninth year, the Women in Green Forum held in Los Angeles on Aug. 16, attracts an international audience to share insights about the newest and most-cutting edge environmental innovations.
In response to this year’s “The Future // Reimagined” theme, speakers focused on the future of technology and its environmental potential.
As the event’s Clean Vehicle Sponsor, American Honda shared its commitment to advancing technologies that address society’s environmental and energy concerns. In North America, the Honda Electrification Initiative will see Honda’s electrified powertrain technologies applied to an expanding portfolio of vehicles in the years ahead. To demonstrate this, American Honda hosted a ride and drive featuring the all-new 2019 Honda Insight.
American Honda also presented the Women in Green Youth Leadership Program, providing scholarships for 30 high school, undergraduate and graduate level students to attend the event, a mentorship program and the presentation of the Youth Trailblazer Award.
Each year, one full-time student is honored with the Youth Trailblazer Award for her commitment to engaging her peers in sustainability and environmental activism. During the Forum’s luncheon, American Honda Connected and Environmental Business Development Manager Raminta Jautokas recognized scholarship winner Nalleli Cobo as the 2018 Youth Trailblazer Award winner. The 17-year-old activist works tirelessly to stop oil drilling in her South Los Angeles neighborhood. Cobo is also a founding member of the South Los Angeles Youth Leadership Coalition, where she champions the fight against environmental racism and California Environmental Quality Act violations.
American Honda also awarded Cobo a $1,000 scholarship to support her future endeavors.
