Honda Companies Raise Funds for Relay for Life

Honda has always strived to be a company that society wants to exist. Our charitable contributions, along with engaging associates in the communities in which we live and work, help make this a reality.

This summer, several Honda companies participated in Relay for Life activities. Relay for Life is the largest fundraising event in the world in the effort to end cancer. Honda of America Mfg., Inc. (HAM) in Central Ohio embarked on a new partnership with the American Cancer Society this year. HAM sponsored 23 Relay for Life walks in its 15-county hiring radius.

Honda associates, retirees and their immediate family members were eligible to participate and more than 300 people joined Team Honda for this inaugural event. Overall, HAM contributed $30,000 in sponsorships during this past summer.

Honda was a presenting sponsor at five of the races, where a member of the HAM leadership team helped kick off the event. Additionally, Honda’s Wellness Center gave away prizes and played games like limbo to encourage walkers.

Some groups, like the Honda Young Professionals, used the races as team building activities – racking up more than 80 walking hours.

Honda Precision Parts of Georgia and Honda of South Carolina (HSC) also participated in Relay for Life events this summer and HSC had over 200 participants and raised over $8,000.
