Instilling a Love of Books in Young Readers

Reading is a critical skill and a gateway to opportunities. That’s why a select group of Honda associates volunteer one hour per month throughout the school year to read to designated classes at Carson Street Elementary School in Carson, California. We call them the Honda Readers.

To encourage the students to read themselves, every child in the school receives two new books, free of charge, with his or her name written inside as a gift from their Honda Reader. Often this may be the first book that a child has ever owned, and it may be the only book in the household.
