Honda’s Legacy of Automotive Environmental Awards

From the nascent days of Honda, our philosophy has been to be a company that society wants to exist. To achieve this, we understand that Honda products must provide the greatest possible benefit, while doing the least possible harm to the world around us.

Since its earliest environmental success with the CVCC Civic, which was a major breakthrough in reducing emissions and increasing fuel efficiency, Honda has introduced many new automobile technologies designed to help the environment. From gas-electric hybrids and natural-gas vehicles to hydrogen fuel-cell technology, Honda cars have been at the forefront of alternative-fuel powertrains.

Many of those vehicles, along with gasoline-powered automobiles that have demonstrated fuel and emission efficiency, have been recognized by various organizations with annual awards. This legacy is carried on to the present day as the new Honda CR-V was named as the 2020 Green SUV of the Year by the Green Car Journal.

This is the second Honda model to win Green SUV of the Year , joining the 2016 HR-V as vehicles honored by Green Car Journal.

What follows is a comprehensive list of the environmental awards received by Honda products and manufacturing facilities.
